Three Young Wingers Who Tottenham Can Look To Sign In The Summer

Down the years, Tottenham Hotspur have never been biggest spenders in the transfer market. They have a manager in Mauricio Pochettino who gets plenty of joy and satisfaction from nurturing young talents in the making.

That has been one of the reasons why Spurs have emerged out as a top team in the last couple of years. Pochettino has given youngsters plenty of opportunities to showcase their talents on the bigger stage. Not only has he developed young stars but has also brought the right balance in the squad by adding some senior heads.

However, the Argentine needs to add a couple of fresh faces to his squad in the summer if Tottenham are to challenge for the title next season. Failing to land silverware this season, Daniel Levy needs to allot a good amount of funds for Pochettino to spend in the summer transfer window and shape the squad.

Pochettino has a really talented squad at his disposal but to win trophies, he needs to bring more quality in terms of signings. Here are three young wingers Spurs should consider signing in summer.

Richarlison (Watford)

Richarlison was signed by Watford for £11.5m from Fluminense at the start of this season but to everyone’s surprise, he has exceeded expectations.

The Brazilian has taken the Premier League by storm, showing plenty of strength and pace to destroy defenders. He is strong, fast and has excellent dribbling skills that set him apart from other players of his age.

Someone who is technically gifted, Richarlison seems to have all the qualities needed in a young forward. Although he has faded in the second half of the season, there is no doubting his talent and Pochettino must sign him in the summer as the Brazilian will be perfect for Tottenham.

Gelson Martins (Sporting Lisbon)

After progressing through Sporting’s famed youth academy, Gelson Martins broke into the first-team frame in 2015. Since then, he has been a creative force for the Portuguese side and has also impressed on the international stage.

Blessed with exceptional pace and dribbling abilities, the flying winger can give endless nightmares to any defender. He has the sudden burst of pace to drive beyond the opposition backline and supply crosses into the box.

Martins, just like Ronaldo and Nani in their younger years, has a direct style of play. He is not afraid to run at defenders, showcase his skills and surge past them. Furthermore, he is also a huge goal threat as he never shies away from shooting, even from distance.

The Portuguese sensational will surely cost a lot of money but Spurs must break the bank to get him at the end of the season. He will be a real value for all the money they spend.

Ryan Sessegnon (Fulham)

Sessegnon may be a player from the Championship but his displays at Fulham this season have seen him earn a solid reputation as one of the most-sought-after youngsters across Europe.

Very recently, he was named the Championship Player of the Season at the EFL Awards and that speaks volumes about the player, who is destined for bigger things.

Capable of playing as a left full-back and as a winger, Sessegnon loves to get forward and help his teammates in their attacking endeavours. While he is strong defensively and possesses the pace and technical ability to stretch opponents down the wing, the 17-year-old actually comes into life around the opposition box.

Sessegnon has been involved in plenty of goals and assists this season, which has helped Fulham fight for promotion in the Premier League. The teenager has been linked with a switch to Tottenham and Pochettino must sign this jewel at all costs.
