4 goals, 6 assists in 11 games – Man City have made a grave mistake by offloading teenage prodigy in the summer

Why Manchester City have surely made a mistake by offloading Jadon Sancho

Manchester City have once again made a splendid start to their season and are yet to beaten under Pep Guardiola. The Cityzens look destined for success under the former Barcelona manager, who broke many records last season.

But the English champions may have made a mistake in letting go of youngster Jadon Sancho. City sold their youth star for £8million last season and he has since gone on to build a big reputation not only in the Bundesliga but across Europe. (Guardian)

He has been in supreme form this season, which has seen Dortmund hand him a renewed contract just a year after joining the club. The 18-year-old was a part of City’s youth academy before moving to Borussia Dortmund last season. He made just 3 appearances before being shifted to the senior side, showing a rapid rise in his performances. (Guardian)

Sancho has some very impressive numbers so far this season. He has picked up a total of 4 goals and 6 assists in just 11 appearances this season, 6 of which have come off the bench. The youngster has also picked up 1 goal and 1 assist in 4 appearances. (Stats courtesy – Whoscored)

Those are respectable numbers for a youngster who is untested on the big stage. Playing on the right-hand side of advanced midfield, Sancho has devastated defenders this season with his pace and ability on the ball. He possesses a number of traits that make him an astute dribbler.

He has averaged 1.1 successful dribbles per game while also managing 1.8 key passes. The youngster is not only capable of producing the goods but he can also turn into a provider when required.

The 18-year-old has been very crisp and accurate with his passing as well, averaging a pass success rate of 83% in the Bundesliga and 88.9% in the Champions League. (Stats courtesy – Whoscored)

Sancho has flourished playing alongside household names likes Marco Reus, Mario Gotze and Paco Alcacer. His meteoric rise has also seen him make Gareth Southgate’s England squad this season.
