7 goals in 16 games – Bournemouth should surely do everything possible to land this Bundesliga ace in January

Why Bournemouth should make a January swoop for Ondrej Duda

Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson’s stock continues to rise. The centre-forward has been in rip-roaring form this season, scoring eight goals and assisting a further five times in 19 Premier League games, which has helped Bournemouth enjoy a solid start.

In fact, the 26-year-old’s form for the Cherries this season has already resulted in an England call-up, and it’s starting to attract interest from some of the league’s elite clubs too. And according to the Sun, Chelsea assistant coach Gianfranco Zola praised Callum Wilson and admitted the club’s interest in the striker.

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe clearly has no plans to sell his talismanic forward but if Chelsea come up with an eye-catching offer in the New Year, it would be very difficult for the Sea Coast club to ignore it.

Even though Howe is expected to do everything possible to resist Chelsea’s offers, it would be wise if the Bournemouth chief simultaneously chalks out potential replacements for Wilson.

That said, Bournemouth must target Hertha Berlin star Ondrej Duda in January. However, the 24-year-old won’t be a like-to-like replacement for Wilson but he’ll certainly add more than goals to this Bournemouth side.

Ondrej Duda, 24, is one of Hertha’s big surprises of the season. He put in brilliant performances against Bayern Munich and Schalke earlier this season, however, the playmaker’s form has faded a bit of late, which saw manager Pal Dardei drop him to the bench on several occasions.

The Slovakian international had an injury-ravaged first two seasons at Hertha but finally free of injuries and thriving, he has scored 7 times in 16 Bundesliga appearances this term. But having been in and out of the Hertha team lately, Ondrej Duda can consider a move away from Olympiastadion Berlin in January.

Bournemouth should take advantage of Duda’s situation at Hertha and lure him away to the Vitality. In Duda, Bournemouth would get a gifted playmaker, equally adept at playing on the right wing and as a secondary striker.

The Slovak is a technically-gifted attacker and he combines his sound technique with his strength and silky dribbling skills to wreak havoc on the opposition.

Apart from his creativity, dribbling and finishing skills, Duda is also known for his sublime vision and tactical awareness, creating space with sharp turns and releasing that killer pass to play his teammates in behind the backline. Furthermore, the fleet-footed 24-year-old has a powerful right foot that is capable of finding the net from outside the box.

To put things into perspective, Duda would be an ideal buy for Bournemouth in January. Eddie Howe needs more firepower up front to boost their chances of securing a Europa League spot.

Howe should do everything in his powers to land the Slovakian in the New Year as he would give Bournemouth a significant boost for the second half of the season.
