A disaster waiting to happen? – Here’s why Arsenal can do a lot better than sign this 7-goal Serie A starlet

Arsenal opinion: Arsenal shouldn’t sign Moise Kean

According to a report in the Daily Express, Arsenal are interested in signing Juventus youngster Moise Kean. The 19-year-old burst onto the scene in the second half of last season in the Serie A. He made 17 appearances under Massimiliano Allegri and had a fantastic return with 7 goals and an assist.

With Juventus now under Maurizio Sarri, there will be a massive change in the team stylistically. Allegri was a pragmatic manager, whereas Sarri requires specific players for his system. Kean has shown fantastic poaching ability and is a throwback of sorts.

Maurizio Sarri usually requires a lot more from his strikers and with so many senior players to choose from, Kean is surplus to requirements at the moment.

Juventus have Gonzalo Higuain, Mario Mandzukic and Cristiano Ronaldo; all of whom can play centrally. Handling such big personalities will be a difficult task and Kean will harshly have to miss out on the fun.

Moise Kean

Arsenal’s interest in him is interesting as they already have the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette in their ranks. Arsenal have also been heavily linked with Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha, who is capable of playing in most forward positions and can solve Arsenal’s right-wing problems.

It has been reported by the Mirror that Arsenal have a tight budget this transfer window after failing to make it to the UEFA Champions League and they’ll have to prioritize certain positions above others like central defence. Laurent Koscielny is in the final year of his contract and has had conflicts with the club after not travelling with the squad on their pre-season tour.

Rob Holding is still nursing an injury and Shkodran Mustafi is simply not up to the standard after having got so many chances. It is imperative that Arsenal prioritize their centre-back position before heading into any other deals.

Their only signing so far has been 18-year-old Gabriel Martinelli, who has a bright future but can’t solve most of Arsenal’s more pressing issues.

Kean wouldn’t add anything to the Arsenal side immediately. Aubameyang and Lacazette are more than capable of doing the business in front of the goal and have formed a fantastic partnership during their time at the club.

Conclusion

Youngster Eddie Nketiah has also impressed during pre-season in front of goal.

For all of the reasons mentioned above, Kean would be a bit of luxury signing and wouldn’t inspire the Gunners to higher heights.
