A Dream Tottenham Line Up To Play Next Season And A Realistic One That Pochettino Might Line Up

Mauricio Pochettino and his men will look to build upon the third place finish they achieved in last season’s Premier League and have already brought in a couple of decent reinforcements for the London club.

Tottenham have signed one of the hottest strikers in the world, in Vincent Janssen but they will be looking to close out a few more deals before the end of the transfer window. Spurs have to make the squad stronger as they would be playing in the UEFA Champions League this season as well and playing a team with a lot of youngsters can only take you so far in club footballs elite competition.

The extra games will also have a toll on the current squad and the Argentine manager will be looking to bring in more players than just the Wanyama and Janssen deals going through.

Spurs have been linked with a number of players in the summer and could have an incredible line-up if all their rumours players join the side. We look at a dream line-up that Spurs could hypothetically play with this season.

Dream line-up for Tottenham

Even in the dream line-up for Tottenham, there really isn’t much you can do about the goalkeeping situation. Hugo Lloris is one of the best in the world and even though the Frenchman was linked with a move to Real Madrid, Tottenham should hold onto him and ensure he stays at the club.

The defence features the same set of players that provided the London club with one of the tightest defences last season. Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen should be the players in the heart of the defence and Kyle Walker and Danny Rose should be the starters alongside the central defenders next season, no two ways about it.

The midfield duo would feature a player that was one of the best in La Liga last season and played for a Madrid side. Before you start naming the Real Madrid stars, the player in question is Atletico Madrid’s Saul Niguez. The energy and movement that the Spanish 21-year-old played with last season saw him being linked with Barcelona as well and the youngster has been linked with a move to London as well.

He would be partnered by Eric Dier in midfield, though many would also want Moussa Dembele to be the midfielder of choice but the Englishman just gets the nod ahead of the Belgian star. The attacking quartet would be a bit of a tough one but Harry Kane and Vincent Janssen must start either as two strikers or with Janssen playing just behind Kane or vice versa.

The two attackers beside the strikers would be Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli. Erik Lamela would have been the proper choice for out wide but you cannot drop Dele Alli after the season he has the last time around for Tottenham.

Realistic line-up for Tottenham

Tottenham’s back five shouldn’t change in the line-up that Pochettino would look to put out at the start of the season. That defence was one of the best in the league and there is no reason to break that up.

The midfield duo of Niguez and Dier though would remain a dream, Dembele is out of action for the first few games of the season and that means Nacer Chadli and Eric Dier could be the starting midfielders until Dembele is back in action.

The attacking would also see a bit of a change as Pochettino might not want to mess around with the forward line that worked so well for his last season.

Harry Kane would still be leading the line but it would be Dele Alli playing behind the English striker and not Vincent Janssen. The Spurs striker would be ably supported by the likes of Christian Eriksen and Erik Lamela on either side as they look to finish in a better position than what they achieved last season.

It might not be the greatest transfer window yet but Pochettino could be holding an ace up his sleeve and that could be crucial as Tottenham look to make best of the Champions League position this season and hopefully bring in a lot more quality to the club.
