“Above Spurs” – Arsenal Fans Ecstatic After The Late 1-0 Win Over Burnley + Player Ratings

Arsenal snatched a late 1-0 victory against Burnley at the Turf Moor, thanks to an Alexis Sanchez penalty in the added minutes.

The Gunners were put under severe pressure for the entirety of the first period, but they managed to go into half-time with the scoreline intact at 0-0. After the break, Arsene Wenger’s men turned up the heat with both teams enjoying decent chances, but not able to breach the goal.

However, when it seemed the game would end in a draw, Arsenal were awarded a penalty when James Tarkowski pushed Aaron Ramsey to the ground in the box and Sanchez then made no mistake from the spot, to clinch the three points for his side.

And here’s how the Arsenal players fared on the day;

Arsenal Player Ratings

Petr Cech – 7/10

Made a couple of important saves in the first period to keep his team in the game. Assured presence between the sticks.

Laurent Koscielny – 7/10

Was solid at the back for most parts. Good positioning and awareness, made the most number of clearances by any Arsenal player.

Shkodran Mustafi – 7/10

Gave away a couple of silly free-kicks in dangerous areas, but was largely steady at the back.

Nacho Monreal – 7/10

Another strong display from the Spaniard, who is developing into the most consistent performers for the North Londoners.

Hector Bellerin – 6/10

Not as effective as he was in the win over Tottenham Hotspur last weekend. Got forward well at times, but the end product was lacking.

Aaron Ramsey – 7/10

Did most things right. There were some driving runs through the midfield, while there were a few frustrating moments as well. Won the all-important penalty.

Granit Xhaka – 7/10

Was strong in his tackles in the middle of the park and it was his pass into the box that lead to Arsenal’s penalty.

Sead Kolasinac – 6/10

Got into dangerous positions on a number of times, but his end product let down on almost every occasion.

Alex Iwobi – 5/10

Struggled to get into the game in any way and seemed to run out of steam very early in the game.

Alexis Sanchez – 6/10

Did not have the best of the games, with his passing very much off the radar. But stepped up when needed to convert the penalty.

Alexandre Lacazette – 6/10

Starved of any meaningful service all game and had few attempts at goal before being subbed off once again.

Substitutes

Jack Wilshere – 6/10

Replaced Iwobi in the 67th minute. Almost found the back of the net, but his shot was deflected just wide. Little impact other than that.

Danny Welbeck – N/A

On for Lacazette for the final ten minutes.
