Aguero vs Sergio Ramos And Other Key Battles That Will Decide Manchester City’s Clash vs Real Madrid

Well, no one would have thought that, but Manchester City are in the Semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League and their next hurdle will be the Los Blancos. Real Madrid marginally defeated Wolfsburg in their last Champions League tie and will be looking forward to grab their 11th Champions League trophy. Manchester City, on the other hand, will be playing their first ever Champions League Semi-finals and the players will have to give their maximum to reach the finals to give Manuel Pellegrini his farewell gift.

Manchester City are performing really well with Kevin De Bruyne on their side and they looked confident at times. De Bruyne was rested in City’s last fixture in which they trounced Stoke City by 4 goals to nil. If Pellegrini tends to beat Real Madrid, he needs to keep this Dutchman fit. Alongside De Bruyne, Aguero will always be a threat if he is allowed too much space in the box.

That’s what Real has been doing in the Champions League this season; they take the risk of leaving spaces at the back and concede a goal. Ronaldo and Bale would be the obvious threat for City’s defence. Manchester City, in their official website, has stated that Toure Yaya will be missing the Real’s clash and that is a huge blow for the blues.

I really can’t wait to see the clash of these two heavyweights and here, we will be discussing the three key onfield battles for the following fixture-

Sergio Aguero vs Sergio Ramos-

Sergio Aguero

The Argentine attacker is a clever man, he can find the space in the opponent’s defence and that’s what he has been doing all the season. He is quick, he is tough and will be mentally prepared for the clash, after all, it’s his first ever CL semi-final. Sergio Ramos and Pepe, both will have a tough task to stop this Argentine.

Sergio Ramos, on the other hand, can cut the comedy for Aguero in most of the departments. Ramos can easily beat Aguero in the aerial battles and can give a solid fight in terms of the physical presence. Silva, De Bruyne and Aguero can combine really well and a pass from either of them can rip Real’s defence apart. So, not only Aguero, the center-half will have to look out on the pitch to cancel the tricky passes. And as I mentioned above, he is a clever striker, he can find the gaps all by himself and losing his marker can cost Real Madrid a lot.

Karim Benzema vs Otamendi-

Karim Benzema

Superstar strikers Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema both suffered injuries in La Liga duty over the last two games. The Portuguese goalscorer left the match against Villarreal with a muscle injury, while the Frenchman had a very worrying knee problem during last Saturday’s encounter with Rayo Vallecano. Both are expected to travel to England, but remain doubtful to play at the moment. If they aren’t available, coach Zinedine Zidane has two huge absences to replace, and the Citizens could take advantage.

The Frenchman is a brilliant striker and he knows how to take advantage of opponent’s mistake. Otamendi, on the other hand, is a tough tackler and is doing great these days. As Kompany is most likely to miss the clash, he will be the one defender, City will depend on.

Otamendi can give Benzema a run for his money; he is not the one to be ignored. Mangala can be an easier task for the BBC, but the Argentine will not. Otamendi is known for his physical presence on the field, his well-timed challenges are the one to be afraid of and, keeping this in mind, Real have to plan their strategy accordingly.

De Bruyne vs Casemiro-

Kevin de Bruyne

We all are aware that the Citizens are boosted whenever they have De Bruyne in their side. Real Madrid can control the game if they hold De Bruyne and never allow him to release a pass. He has a great vision and his solo runs can be a threat for Real’s defence.

Most probably, he will be playing just behind Aguero and will be marked by Madrid’s defensive midfielder Casemiro. The Brazilian professional has hit top form recently. His show against Barcelona was one to be proud of (proud for the club). He will have a huge task in the game and if he handles it well, he will definitely be the man of the night. De Bruyne is an accurate passer, he has the vision to set a defense-splitting pass and can cause more threat if he compliments with Silva and Aguero. Keeping a hold on him is definitely not an easy job, but it is not an impossible task either.
