When the new season start all eyes will be on David Moyes to see how he copes up with the big job of managing Manchester United, the side that blossomed so well under his predecessor Sir Alex Ferguson. But before the games begin, Moyes will have to make a few important decisions and strengthen his squad. With a host of names linked with a move out of Manchester United, Moyes must find their adequate replacements.
While Nani’s performance have been inconsistent throughout the season, Valencia has had problems much worse than that and offloading them would make so much sense. Let’s say for an argument sake, both the wingers are sold, have United got the replacements to fill in the void? Moyes will have Zaha who will be returning to Old Trafford from his loan spell and will join Ashley Young and Kagawa.
One such player who has the potential to fit in at United is the Argentine Erik Lamela who has been on United’s radar for a long time now. The player is currently plying his trade in Seria A outfit Roma. The 21-year old has been a sensation this season and it is not without a reason that he is dubbed as the next Lionel Messi. Lamela’s addition along with the improving Kagawa and promsing youngster Zaha, United could brace their famous wing attacks which have been missing for the past couple of seasons.
This season the young midfielder, who is equally gifted to play as the wide forward, averages a goal every two matches for his club. He is gifted with a flawless technique and a tremendous pace. His intelligence on the football field has earned him a lot of admirers and so has his flexibility.
He has been one of the few positive features of the club from the last two seasons and playing alongside club legend Francesco Totti has only sharpened his skills. His capability to link the midfield and the forward line is astute to say the least and that makes him such a vital asset for the club.
But United are not the only club who are monitoring the youngster, with their cross town rivals Manchester City also said to be interested in him. If reports are to believed Real Madrid also wants him in their ranks but we have to wait for some more time to find out whether Lamela makes a move this summer, and if he does, to where?
Valencia who has gone from hero to Zero in a matter of 12 months, from receiving the No 7 shirt to been listed out as a potential liability and Luis Nani, From Ronaldo’s replacement to Manchester United outcast. In Nani and Valencia United will clearly find it difficult to cope up with and this may be the right time to cash in on their wingers.
