Andre Santos: “I’ve Come To Gremio To Be A Champion.”

Arsenal left back Andre Santos is excited about the prospect of returning to his own country. There are no official announcement from the Gunners yet, but it looks like Santos’s departure is imminent as he was photographed arriving at Porto Alegre yesterday.

The defender has traveled to Brazil to finalize the proposed deal and if all goes well, Santos will at-least stay in Brazil for another year. A £6.2 million move from Fenerbahçe to Arsenal never really worked out for the Brazilian and having spent most of his time in the Arsenal bench this season, it is the right time for the defender to make a move if he hopes to find regular playing time.

Santos told Lancenet, “I have the best expectations, Gremio are one of the biggest clubs in the country. I’ve come to Gremio to be a champion. I am very excited about this project. I have dreamed of working with Vanderlei Luxemburgo. He is a top manager in our football.”

He also admitted to not been match fit, “If there was a game today, I would like to play, But I need to be match fit as I played a game one day, then not the next one. I’ll need five or six games to be fitter. I’m anxious to know the squad.”

Gremio are yet to register Santos and Tuesday will be the final day for registering the player for this season’s Copa Libertadores.
