Arsenal simply cannot afford to not sign this incredible 22-year-old talent and Emery has to get him

Arsenal opinion: Should the Gunners make a move for James Maddison?

The Express has reported that Arsenal are keen on a move for Leicester City’s James Maddison as the club look to add reinforcements.

The former Norwich City star has been excellent this season and has naturally been linked with a move away, with Tottenham also interested. Leicester City might be unwilling to sell him so Arsenal have to be ruthless in the transfer market.

The 22-year-old finished his season with 7 goals and as many assists in just the Premier League alone, meaning that he had more goal contributions than Mesut Ozil. Few players in the world have polarized opinion in the Premier League as much as Ozil has and few ever will.

The German maestro is a gem to watch on his best days but those come scarcely in recent times. It seems that under Unai Emery, the German has found himself on the fringes of the first-team, missing far more games than he should.

Add that with his lackadaisical attitude on the field and his body language, it doesn’t make for good reading.

However, despite all that Ozil has still performed in his fair share of games, even doing the defensive side of things. But it lacks consistency and more than anything that is what Unai Emery is looking for in his players.

The former PSG and Sevilla manager demands blood, sweat and tears from his players and this season only a few Arsenal players have given him that. It’s why Ozil was dropped and Aaron Ramsey’s tenacity preferred instead.

But with the Welshman leaving for Juventus, he will leave as the club’s second highest creator and fifth highest goalscorer. Once again, it does not make for good reading and it’s exactly where someone like James Maddison can step in.

The 22-year-old is just the attacking midfielder that Unai Emery has dreamed of and his work-ethic this season has proved that. That combined with his ever-present creativity and surprising clinical ability in front of goal will help the North London side.

A number 10 in a footballing world where his position is dying, James Maddison has impressed immensely in his first season in the Premier League.

Conclusion

James Maddison is undoubtedly talented and the 22-year-old still has so much more than that to offer. His ability, both on and off the ball, is incredible.

Given the way his first season went, maybe in a better team he could produce even more. Arsenal need the move as it allows them to move into a new era.
