Arsenal Latest Including: A Ridiculous Rumour And A Failed Swap Deal Involving Gervinho
Well this is increasingly getting bored and frustrated by the day. Arsenal are in for Mata? Are you kidding me? After missing out on some of his prime targets, Arsene Wenger is all set to prepare a bid for Chelsea ace Juan Mata is what is being reported by the Daily Mail, Independent and some of the other sites as well.
In 2011, Arsenal contested massively to introduce the Spaniard in Emirates from Valencia, but it was Chelsea who had the last laugh, picking him up right from Arsene’s nose at the very end of the window. Since then, Juan Mata has become an undisputable member of the Blues and have gone on to bag Chelsea’s Player of the Year award in both the seasons. But in recent days, there has been a rumour that Mourinho may trade either David Luiz or Juan Mata in order to land Wayne Rooney albeit the Portuguese manager denying the reports.
“I spoke with them during the summer but when they finished the Confederations Cup I wished them luck and told them I will see them on July 28,” said the Chelsea boss.
“I have told them they are very important for me. How can I change that two days later? So, no contact with them.” he further added.
So the origin of this rumour, is still a big question mark. While such ridiculous rumours are doing the rounds, Arsenal fans have once again found themselves in a familiar situation this summer. In other news, Arsene Wenger may also get a blow from French side Lyon. According to sources, Wenger has proposed the Ligue 1 side Lyon for a swap deal which includes Lyon’s midfielder Yoann Gourcuff and Arsenal forward Gervinho. Gourcuff, If you would remember is a long-term target of the Arsenal manager.
However, Lyon boss Remi Garde told Le Progres: “That information has not come into my channels. I read that in the press.” Gervinho is a forward. We’ve got forwards, youngsters of real quality.”
And the 27-years old French international Gourcuff has put another nail on the coffin. He told the club’s official website: “When I was the same age as these players, it wasn’t exactly the same situation.
“There were more experienced players around me. But it’s good. These youngsters are self-disciplined, focused. They need to continue relying on the whole squad. I don’t have a particular role with regard to them. I simply wish to transmit them my desire of enjoying yourself and that they feel they can count on me on the pitch. I’m here, available, ready to help them.
“I have a hunger to play, I want to play with the ball as much as possible to get my touch back, and then to re-find that technical understanding with the others without neglecting the physical aspect of things. It’s important at this time. You have to acquire a good technical and physical basis without wearing yourself out.”
So, this season turns out to be yet another tough hurdle for Wenger, as he is yet to introduce any high profile player at the Emirates till now, though a host of players like Suarez, Rooney, Fabregas are on his radar. We have to wait till something official is announced.

Liam Rosenior faces his first test against a top six side in the league since taking charge of Chelsea, having only faced teams sitting 7th or lower during his opening eight matches. His winning run needs proper context, given the quality of opposition, with recent dropped points against Leeds and Burnley at Stamford Bridge exposing serious vulnerabilities.
Arteta has beaten Rosenior twice already this season in the two legged Carabao Cup semi final, and the Spanish manager will fancy his chances of completing a treble over the Chelsea boss. Arsenal star Olivia Smith has been discharged from hospital after being stretchered off the field during their Women’s FA Cup game against Bristol City. The forward, who joined the Gunners in the summer, played just under an hour before being forced off with pictures showing a neck brace around the 21 year old at Meadow Park.
