Arsenal left-back woes would vanish if they sign this 27-year-old Serie A star in January

Why Arsenal should sign Man United summer target Alex Sandro

Arsenal continued their fine form under Unai Emery after picking up their 7th consecutive league win of the season, against Leicester City. The Gunners went down to an early own goal from Hector Bellerin but came back strong to win the game 3-1 at the Emirates stadium.

There is now a real belief around the club and the Gunners are looking better than they ever did under Arsene Wenger in the last few years. Emery also made a number of signings over the summer and almost all of them have settled well into the side.

But the club can take a look at a couple of left-backs when the window reopens in January. In the game against Leicester City, Emery opted to play Stephan Lichsteiner at left-back, with both Nacho Monreal and Sead Kolasinac unavailable.

While the former has proven to be a massive asset for the club, the Spaniard is now 32 and will not be able to continue at this rate for much longer.

The Juventus defender was linked with a move to the Red Devils throughout the summer but ultimately decided to stay put. There’s no clarity as to whether the Manchester club will revive their interest but it would be best for Arsenal to swoop in and make the move.

Aged just 27, Sandro is lightning fast. He is also excellent at whipping devilish deliveries into the box. The Brazilian’s high energy and stamina also allows him to surge up and down the field without worrying about fatigue taking its toll. He is also versatile enough to function as a left midfielder or left winger.

He will surely flourish playing in this high-tempo Arsenal side under Unai Emery. The Gunners’ full-backs are often expected to charge forward regularly and supply the attack in the final third.

The likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette are already extremely potent in front of the goal. With Sandro sending in the crosses, there is definitely room for even more improvement.

Arsenal should definitely try and convince the Brazilian to make the move to the Emirates before any other potential suitors come calling.

The Gunners seem to be in immediate need of a new left-back and Alex Sandro will be an ideal option in this scenario.
