It is a known fact that Arsene Wenger likes to bring in players from the French league and there is a new kid on the block who has impressed the Arsenal manager. Arsenal have reportedly tabled a £3.5million bid for French ‘wonder-kid’, Florian Thauvin. It was confirmed by the French newspaper L’Equipe today that the North London outfit are ready to blow off Newcastle United by doubling their bid for young midfielder Florien Thauvin.
Whilst Arsenal have more pressing targets in mind, they may be forced into the market for Thauvin who has interested several European clubs. The 19 year-old and soon 20 midfielder, plays for Ligue 2 outfit, Bastia (a club with rumoured interest in Squillaci). Florian has been capped at U18, U19 and U20 level for France and will cost Arsenal a total sum of €5m.
It is thought that any move would see Thauvin loaned back to the French club for the remainder of the season. The midfielder’s contract at his current club expires in 2014 and if an offer as good as €5m for the youngster comes calling, they will not be doing much to stop the transfer rumour from becoming a reality. This may not sound like a signing that may interest many Arsenal fans, especially after hearing all the rumours about big money signings but Florian Thauvin has certainly got the potential for what it takes to be a premier league star.
