Arsenal Player Ratings vs Leicester City – Coquelin And Ozil Impress Once Again

After suffering a major setback at White Hart Lane the Gunners hosted Leicester at the Emirates Stadium where they won 2-1 but it was not a very convincing win according at Arsenal’s standards. The result would have gone in favor of Leicester but they lacked fire power and most of their shots were going wide. Arsenal only dominated on possession while in other aspects the game was neck to neck. Leicester attempted more shots on goal than Arsenal, but in the end it din’t matter as Wenger’s men were successful in getting all three points and luckily took the advantage of Spurs defeat versus Liverpool and are back on 4th position.

Here’s the ratings of Arsenal players based on their performance against Leicester last night.

David Ospina – 6.3/10

Ospina could have done better but lacked confidence, was clumsy when surrounded by a bunch of legs around him and sometimes he was also clueless in the air. The goal which Arsenal conceded was a conclusion of his sloppiness.

Hector Bellerin – 6.7/10

He was very clumsy for first 30-35 minutes and was also getting exposed but it was because Walcott didn’t provide cover to him. His performance was fluctuating throughout the game but he was also clever at time and made 7 clearances.

Laurent Koscielny – 8.0/10

Cleverly got the first goal and was impressive throughout the game. He won each and every aerial duel, made more than 10 clearances and no attacker could easily go past him last night.

Per Mertesacker – 7.5/10

Such games are where you need a tall defender like the BFG. He was very impressive in air, cleared every corner, made some important tackles and also cleared and blocked the ball on many occasions.

Nacho Monreal – 7.0/10

Nacho was also great, his movements were fluid and fruitful and also went forward really well. In the end he proved why he is Arsenal’s number one left back now.

Francis Coquelin – 7.0/10

Attempted the second most passes of the night but 16 of the 89 went in the wrong direction and he could have been a little more cautious in possession. Won 60% of his tackles, all the aerial duels and also made 6 clearances. Overall an impressive performance from the youngster.

Thomas Rosicky – 6.5/10

Rozza’s performance was just average. He was industrious but no end product, many Leicester attacks were initiated because of his clumsiness.

Santi Cazorla – 6.5/10

He was outmuscled by Leicester defenders, made many runs but they were not fruitful. He contributed in both attack and defense overall it was just an average performance by Santi.

Mesut Özil – 7.5/10

After recovering from the long term injury Mesut has been pretty impressive. Last night he made one assist, his passing was also brilliant and effective as well, also made some defensive contributions and it was his shot which led to Theo’s goal.

Theo Walcott – 6.0/10

Even though he scored a goal, his performance was not convincing. He attempted just 9 passes in the entire game out of which 6 were successful also he didn’t provide any cover to Hector.

Alexis Sanchez – 6.0/10

His night was spoiled after the nasty challenge by Upson on him but showed great enthusiasm and stayed on but unfortunately was not impactful.

Olivier Giroud – 6.0/10

It was a trademark Giroud performance but without any end product. He ran around a lot and also got penalized.
