Arsenal signing this 20-year-old Tottenham target would be one of Emery’s biggest transfer coups – Agreed?

Arsenal opinion: Arsenal should beat Spurs to Zaniolo

Nicolo Zaniolo is a wanted man, as North London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are both keen on his signature. Arsenal are hoping to convince him to move to the Emirates, as reported by Calciomercato.

Zaniolo burst onto the scene last season, making 36 appearances in what was a very difficult season Roma. They finished 6th on the table, which disqualifies them from playing in the Champions League.

The 20-year-old scored 6 goals and 2 assists but he stood out like a sore thumb whenever he played. He’s had an interesting trajectory, having joined Roma from Inter Milan. Zaniolo never played for the Inter first-team, despite being signed in the 2017/18 summer transfer window.

He played for Inter’s Serie B side and finished as their top scorer with 13 goals. However, that didn’t stop them from selling him to rivals Roma. Zaniolo is a flair player, who likes to occupy the attacking areas of the midfield and float around like a number 10. Zaniolo is different from a lot of flair players because of his massive frame.

Zaniolo stands at 6 feet and 3 inches, which is why it’s really hard to knock the ball off of him. Let’s now have a look at who he might be a better fit for.

Quite similar to Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil, Zaniolo could not be a more perfect replacement for the German. He often wanders into spaces and cuts inside with his left foot to keep the football ticking.

Zaniolo also has the physicality that Ozil lacks and loves to win a tackle or two. Furthermore, he’ll also have the energy to play an intense pressing system and the versatility to play in various tactical systems.

Conclusion

Spurs fans have every reason to be happy with their transfer window so far. Zaniolo would add some much-needed creativity, with Spurs often depending far too heavily on Christian Eriksen.

Considering the needs of both teams, Arsenal would be a better fit as the two could fulfil each other’s requirements.
