Arsenal signing this €26m Brazilian speedster in January could be a huge step towards PL glory

Why Arsenal should sign Manchester United summer target Alex Sandro

After losing the first two league games of the season, Arsenal have since gone on to win every game under new manager Unai Emery. The Gunners have now embraced his philosophy and look confident in possession.

The former PSG coach did bring in a couple of high-profile signings over the summer, but the Gunners are definitely going to need more men as they aim to return to the top-four this season. Arsenal are also competing in the Europa League and depth will be of utmost importance.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United agreed to personal terms with Juventus full-back Alex Sandro. The Brazilian arrived at Juventus from FC Porto in 2015 for a fee of around €26m and has since gone on to establish himself as one of the best left-backs in Europe. Sandro has two years left on his current contract with the Old Lady and Juventus have not yet offered the Brazilian a contract extension.

Arsenal manager Unai Emery should aim to hijack United’s move and snap up Alex Sandro. The Gunners currently possess a top quality left-back in Nacho Monreal, but he cannot carry on forever. Sead Kolasinac is an option but he isn’t anywhere near the quality of Alex Sandro.

Acquiring Sandro would see Unai Emery receive more quality on the left-hand side of his defence. The 27-year-old Brazilian has been plying his trade at the highest level for a number of years now.

He is also very much experienced in Europe and has played in the Champions League for Juventus over the last few years.

An extremely pacy defender who is also defensively diligent, Alex Sandro is comfortable playing in a number of different systems. He is also exceptional going forward and is versatile enough to play as a left-midfielder as well.

The Brazilian is also well known for his devastating deliveries into the box. He has so far averaged a pass success rate of 85.3% in the Serie A this season. Sandro has also picked up 1 assist for Juventus this season. (Stats courtesy – Whoscored)

Unai Emery should definitely try and sign the Brazilian before Manchester United complete a deal for the coveted defender. Though the Red Devils are also in dire need of some reinforcements, Arsenal are a team on the rise and will be aiming to get back into the Champions League. Acquiring Alex Sandro will play a huge role in returning to the top-four.
