Arsenal superstar will reconsider his future at the Emirates in January

Recent reports from the Telegraph have now stated that Arsenal’s Mathieu Debuchy might possibly leave the Emirates once the transfer window is open once again in January. The French right-back joined the north London side from their league rivals Newcastle United in 2014, for approximately £12m. Despite a good start to life at the club, the defender lost his place in the starting line-up to Hector Bellerin, after a debut season disrupted by a long list of injuries.

The defensive superstar has not received enough game time in recent weeks and has also been left out of the French national side for the games against Armenia and Denmark. The European Championships will take place in France next year and he cannot be benched for Arsene Wenger’s side, if he wants to be part of the squad for the tournament and might consider a move away.

Debuchy was on the verge of leaving Arsenal this summer already, yet decided to stay and fight for a place in Wenger’s side. After a poor performance in the 2-1 defeat to Dinamo Zagreb, he is quite low on confidence right now and if not given enough opportunities, could leave.
