Arsenal To Hit The Panic Button Again?

So the panic button has been pressed somewhat. After a shocking defeat to Aston Villa on the opening day of the Premier League, rumours have once again stated that Wenger will again try to sign the players that he had been targeting for a long time.

The Arsenal manager had tried to sign Luis Suarez and Ashley Williams this summer to strengthen his squad. They had made a bid of £40m and one pound for the Liverpool man, which had been rejected. But after today’s performance Wenger has supposedly understood the gravity of the situation and although signing Suarez is far from a reality, other realsictic targets should be considered fast.

Arsenal will also be looking to sign Swansea defender Ashley Williams to get a back up for their fragile defensive unit which doesn’t have 2 regular players for their Champions League qualifier match against Fenerbache. The London club displayed their interest in the player long time back, but the valuation of Swansea of their captain had kept Williams out of Wenger’s reach. But Arsenal are now contemplating a bid of £11m to seal the deal once and for all, much to the wish of the Wales international himself.

And the latest news is that Ashley Williams finds the speculation linking him with a transfer to Arsenal “very flattering.

“It’s all very flattering, but you take it with a pinch of salt because you see a lot written and you never know what to make of it,” Williams told the Daily Mirror.

“I just take it as a compliment. You must be doing something right, whether it’s true or not. I try to leave it there. If I sat here and said I didn’t want to play in the Champions League, that’d be a lie. But at the same time, I’d never disrespect a team I play for and say ‘that’s it, I’m desperate to leave’ just after a story in the paper. I’d never do that or think that

Wenger definitely needs to do something to avoid the wrath of the supporters and the signing of these two players would certainly cool the fans of the club.

Much to the delight of the fans, Wenger himself has mentioned that the club is working hard behind the scene to make the transfers of some players happen and these deals will be done and dusted sooner than later.

In a recent interview, the Frenchman stated

“We take our work seriously and believe me, we analyse every single player in the world. We work 24 hours a day for that. When we make decisions, we take it seriously. People try to think we do not want to spend. We want [to]. We are ready to buy players. We were on the market before the game and we are on the market after the game. If we do not spend the money, it’s because we do not find the players. I’m not the only one to work on that. We are a team who work on that. We are ready to buy the players if we find that the players are good enough for us. That’s all we can tell you.”
