Arsenal Transfers: What’s Really Happening With Suarez And Higuain Rumours?
Arsene Wenger has triggered the rumour of a possible move for Luis Suarez to the Emirates which would certainly make at least a section of the fans pretty optimistic about the club’s intentions to make it big this season.
When asked about the possibility of the club reaching an agreement with the 26-year-old Liverpool striker, Wenger told John Cross of the Mirror, “Suarez? As you know the transfer period demands secrets and confidentiality, so I can’t answer the question.”
Though this does not imply that the club will recruit him, but surely a negotiation is taking place which understandably Wenger is reluctant to express.
The Gunners have been quiet in this transfer season so far even after their promised move for big players. Till now, they have only managed to acquire 20-year-old Yaya Sanogo, who has just won the U-20 World Cup with France. Sanogo is certainly a great addition for the future and a great candidate to develop into a real star down the road.
But so far, if any preeminent player is considered, they are only linked with Suarez and Higuain.
Though the fans are excited to see this 25-year old Argentine forward donning their Gunners shirt next season, but things are not going in their favour and so far reports suggest that this Galactico might stay at Madrid next season. As the Daily Mail reports, the club’s quest to sign him, has not gone as well as planned and Madrid’s president Perez is stubborn to show the exit door.
Under these circumstances, the only option that they are left with is the Uruguayan scorer.
Last season, Suarez scored 23 goals in his 33 league appearances and till date he has accumulated 51 goals and 24 assists beside his name in his 96 overall appearances for the Reds, after being signed from the Dutch club Ajax in January transfer window of 2010-11.
But in contrary to his outstanding on-field skills, he has also been in the headlines for some astonishing off-field activities, like racial abuse to United left-back Evra or the infamous bitegate. But if true on field senses are applied may be Suarez is a better target than Higuain, who has found the net 16 times this season.
There is also rumour that Wenger has increased his initial £30 million to £40 million for the striker and keeping himself tight lipped has acted as a positive catalyst in the breeze.
With two big names in the transfer season hard to find, Suarez is surely one of premier target that a club may choose to have if it is looking to boost its attack. But what Wenger needs to decide is the baggage that he will bring with himself to the Emirates. Won’t that be too much for the club to handle? Only time will tell.

Rosenior Yet to Face Top Six Opposition
Liam Rosenior faces his first test against a top six side in the league since taking charge of Chelsea, having only faced teams sitting 7th or lower during his opening eight matches. His winning run needs proper context, given the quality of opposition, with recent dropped points against Leeds and Burnley at Stamford Bridge exposing serious vulnerabilities.
Arteta has beaten Rosenior twice already this season in the two legged Carabao Cup semi final, and the Spanish manager will fancy his chances of completing a treble over the Chelsea boss. Bukayo Saka should be fit despite limping off late against Spurs, while Ben White remains doubtful with a niggle.

Arsenal star Olivia Smith has been discharged from hospital after being stretchered off the field during their Women’s FA Cup game against Bristol City. This is brilliant news for Arsenal, who cannot afford to lose Smith for any length of time, given her importance to the team.
