The Emirates cup is known for its attacking brand of football, especially because teams are provided extra points when a match ends based on the number of goals they have scored. Arsenal started their pre-season Emirates cup gig with a hammering of Lyon. Arsenal scored 6 goals, yes, 6 in a pre-season game against one of the best French teams from last season.
With the next game against Wolfsburg, and a return of Lord Bendtner to the Emirates, we predict the strongest possible Arsenal Lineup as they hope to start the season with a trophy, albeit a pre-season one.
Petr Cech
Cech might not have started the game against Lyon but this should be the perfect time for him to get a game in for the Gunners before the start of a grueling Premier League season.
Mathieu Debuchy
The right-back missed a lot of last season but he is fit enough to start the game and should continue down the right side of defence for the Gunners against Wolfsburg.
Per Mertesacker
Mertesacker might be aging a bit but that does not stop him from putting in some great performances, it still is pre-season and he could be set for another full season in the heart of Arsenal’s midfield.
Laurent Koscielny
The leader in defence and one of the best in the Premier League, Koscielny and Mertesacker seem to be Arsenal’s first choice in defence and that is why he should start again.
Kieran Gibbs
Gibbs needs to get his place back into the team, he has been getting a lot of competition from Monreal but the English full-back has a chance to impress and he should be starting.
Francis Coquelin
Coquelin could play a lot more this season if Arsenal do not sign another central defensive midfielder; hopefully the youngster will be up to the task like he was last season.
Aaron Ramsey
Ramsey should continue in the heart of midfield and this role could be crucial to Arsenal achieving something this season.
Theo Walcott
The speedster was another one of Arsenal’s players to miss out a chunk of the season with injury; he should start against Wolfsburg just to see how well his pre-season training has gone.
Mesut Ozil
Mesut has to constantly do well for Arsenal or else his place could go to a ton of other talented players that Arsenal possess. However, he was at his usual best against Lyon.
Santi Cazorla
Crowd favorite Cazorla should once again start in the middle of the park. His brilliantly taken free-kick goal against Lyon is something that Arsenal fans would love to see more often.
Olivier Giroud
The Frenchman scored in the last game and should be set to fire a few more in against German opposition. Giroud needs to start the season sharply and he would be hoping for a few more goals to ensure he does have a great pre-season before the league season starts.
