Attacking Duo Set To Return: Strongest 4-4-2 Leicester City Line-Up To Face Everton

Leicester City

Predicted Leicester City Lineup To Face Everton

Leicester City will look to keep their winning run intact, when they visit the Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon, to take on Everton in the Premier League.

The Foxes have won all five of their league fixtures under new boss Craig Shakespeare and as a result have managed to pull themselves far away from the relegation threat. They are currently 11th in the league standings. They will come into the game on a high following a comfortable 2-0 win over Sunderland.

Leicester have faced the Toffees on two occasions this term, once in the league when they lost 2-0 at the King Power Stadium and once more in the FA Cup third round when they trumped Ronald Koeman’s men 2-1 at the Goodison Park.

Team News

Leicester will be expecting captain Wes Morgan to be available for selection on Sunday, but may not feature from the start. Nampalys Mendy is also close to a return to fitness, but Sunday will be too soon for him to be ready. Molla Wague remains unavailable for the rest of the season.

Probable Leicester City Playing XI

Formation: 4-4-2

Manager: Craig Shakespeare

Kasper Schmeichel (GK)

The Danish international has been the star for Leicester on many occasions this season. A leader on the pitch, he is definitely one of the first names on the team sheet.

Danny Simpson (RB)

The former Newcastle United man has been an ever-present in the line-up for the Foxes and has been impressing on a consistent basis. A sure starter at right-back.

Robert Huth (CB)

With Wes Morgan unavailable in recent weeks, Huth has stepped up as the leader of the defence and has performed admirably. Another certain starter.

Yohan Benalouane (CB)

The 30-year old has deputized very well in the absence of Morgan and has put in some steady performances at the back. Should retain his place in the playing XI.

Christian Fuchs (LB)

At left-back it will be seasoned performer Christian Fuchs. The Austrian international has been a consistent performer for the Foxes and will start against Everton.

Riyad Mahrez (RM)

The Algerian international has been on a path of resurgence in recent weeks, but did not have the best of the games against Sunderland. Will start on the right-flank.

Danny Drinkwater (CM)

In the centre of the park it will be the ever so consistent, but highly underrated Danny Drinkwater. The Englishman has looked tired in recent weeks, but will take the field on Sunday and continue to pull the strings from the midfield for Leicester.

Wilfred Ndidi (CM)

The young midfielder has established himself as a mainstay in midfield under Shakespeare in recent months. Will look to continue his impressive run on Sunday.

Marc Albrighton (LM)

There will be a definite change in personnel on the left-flank, with Marc Albrighton set to return to the line-up in place of Demarai Gray. Albrighton was brilliant coming on from the bench against Sunderland in the midweek and will want to continue in similar fashion.

Islam Slimani (ST)

The club record signing impressed heavily after coming on as a substitute against Sunderland and opened the scoring. Deserves a start in place of Shinji Okazaki.

Jamie Vardy (ST)

The last season’s star is well and truly back. Vardy has been on a great goal-scoring run in recent weeks and has netted 5 in 5 for Leicester. No doubts over his participation from the get-go.
