An international break is not something that a Fantasy Premier League manager wants and so it is a test of patience for the manager. But the good news is that the Interlull is finally over and the Premier League action returns this weekend with a host of matches to be played and a bulk of players are set to make their debuts for their respective clubs after the berserk business of the deadline day. Here we list three points that the managers should keep in mind going into the fourth gameweek.
Crazy deadline day
A lot of business occurred on the deadline day of the transfer window, leaving scope for a number of alterations. Some of the transfers that can have the major impact on the Fantasy Premier League are the transfers of Lukaku to Everton, Ozil to Arsenal and Moses to Liverpool. Lukaku was tipped to be the contender for the starting line-up at Stamford Bridge but Mourinho decided otherwise and allowed him to Everton, which obviously means one thing for the FPL managers – regular playing time for the Belgian, and there would certainly be an increased number of managers opting for him.
Moses could also prove to be a vital player at Anfield and at £6.2m, he may prove to be an interesting option. Ozil on the other hand has made the biggest headlines and although he has a price of £10m, his easy fixture may allow him to settle down a lot faster and fire in the assists and the goals that he used to do at Real.
Injury to Sturridge
Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has been in wonderful form firing in three goals in as many games. But he has since had injury problems keeping him out of action for the matches for his national side. However with Suarez still out of action, Liverpool may just field Sturridge in a desperate move. The 22.6% of the managers who have included him in their team, should thus be wary and monitor the situation closely before making any further move.
Samuel Eto’o
Mourinho’s signing of Eto’o and the subsequent transfer out of Lukaku on a loan move clearly indicates the manager’s lack of confidence in his current strikers. This is where Eto’o could prove vital in the FPL. The 32-year old still has a lot to offer and it is presumable that he would be fixture proof starting most of the games with Torres being the distant second. The £9m price tag may look a tad highly priced, but Eto’o guarantees a certain quality in his play.
Random Thoughts
Just when you Premier League Fantasy manager thought of settling down with your teams, the deadline day madness has brought in some new angles to think of, some potential superstars, potential cheap buys, so what have you all decided?
Ozil, Eto’o, Moses and even Sakho in defence sounds great, but think before you buy them. The wild card may be tempting, but give it a week or two as most of the managers do not force their newly recruits straight away into the first team. For example, Arsenal’s Ozil is certainly there in everyone’s minds, but Wenger may use him as a substitute in a couple of matches before allowing him to start. The same story lies with Fellaini, Eto’s, Sakho, Lukaku and even Darren Bent who has moved to Fulham on a loan deal from Aston Villa.
