“Back on top”, “What a win”: Some Liverpool fans on cloud nine as Reds demolish Bournemouth 3-0 + Match report

Liverpool 3-0 Bournemouth: Reds make easy work of the Cherries to get a win

Liverpool returned to winning ways with a commanding 3-0 win over Bournemouth at Anfield to reclaim top spot in the league. Sadio Mane, Georginio Wijnaldum and Mohamed Salah scored the goal for Jurgen Klopp’s men, who are now three points clear of Manchester City with the same number of games played.

After a slightly slow start in the first 20 minutes, the home side clicked into gear at the mid-way point of the first half. In the 24th minute, from the second phase of a corner, James Milner whipped in a dangerous ball into the box and Mane attacked that ball well to give his side the lead.

Ten minutes later, Wijnaldum made a line-breaking run from the midfield and was well picked out by Andy Robertson. The Dutchman then did very well to take the ball under control and scoop it over the Bournemouth keeper. Some finish that!

Liverpool tripled their lead few minutes after the break when Naby Keita freed up Roberto Firmino with a lovely pass. The Brazilian then had the presence of mind to not go for the goal and instead, back-heel it into the path of Salah, who scored with aplomb.

The Reds had other chances on the counter-attack to add to their score-line but it wasn’t to be. Firmino should have done better with a chance while Artur Boruc made a couple of good saves to keep the score down. Salah rattled the post with one chance that was destined to go in.

All in all, a good win for them after dropping points in the previous two games. They are back at the top and would be feeling good about themselves. In all probability, their mini-crisis seems to be over and they can look forward to some big games.
