Barcelona opinion: Should the Blaugrana consider a move for Leroy Sane?

According to a report from Fox Sports Asia, Barcelona ace Lionel Messi demands a big transfer move for Manchester City forward Leroy Sane.

The German winger is valued around €90million, double the price he was bought from FC Schalke.

Sane’s extraordinary season with the Sky Blues

Sane’s impact has been one of the key factors for the Sky Blues this season in the quest for Premier League glory. He has bagged impressive stats of 14 goals and 12 assists so far.

The 23-year-old scored the decider against Liverpool, earlier this January, which turned the Premier League title race in City’s favour.

However, Sane couldn’t become a regular under Pep Guardiola, as the Argentine manager preferred Bernardo Silva and Raheem Sterling as the starters in most of the games.

Barcelona’s lack of firepower in the attack

The attacking unit of the Blaugrana was highly reliant on Messi throughout this season, as fellow teammates Luis Suarez and Phillipe Coutinho failed to create a big impression.

Ernesto Valverde rotated the winger positions between Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele and both showed rustiness at times.Dembele began the season impressively but his progress got impeded by recurring injury woes.

Furthermore, the Blaugrana were handed a humiliating defeat by the Reds in the Champions League semi-final, thus losing their hopes of European glory for the umpteenth time.

And in the retrospective analysis, Barca’s attacking prowess, sparing Messi, has been one of the major reasons for the downfall.

Should Barca make a move for Sane?

The German winger would be a definite solution for their attacking woes on a permanent basis. Despite being a natural winger on the left flank, his ability to play as an inverted winger would take the pressure of the La Liga’s current top goalscorer as well.
