Barcelona signing this rising €70m La Liga star would turn them into a free-flowing attacking unit next season

Barcelona opinion: Should Barca sign Mikel Oyarzabal?

Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde is keen on bringing Real Sociedad attacker  Mikel Oyarzabal to Nou Camp, according to Sport English.

The  Catalan giants are preparing to add reinforcements after undergoing a disappointing season, winning the league title and letting slip away their chances of a well-placed treble.

Oyarzabal has been pivotal for Basque club this season, scoring 14 goals and providing 4 assists in all competitions. An academy graduate of Sociedad, the 21-year-old has grown into a much better player in the past two seasons. His stats are a testimony to that.

His string of wonderful displays also led him to an international call-up in three years, where he scored a stunning goal as a substitute in the qualifiers game against Sweden. The Spanish prospect is tied with Sociedad until 2024 and has a release clause of €70m.

Barcelona need attacking reinforcements

The Blaugrana are in desperate need of attackers, as some of their marquee signings failed to live up expectations. Philippe Coutinho was insipid throughout this campaign, casting real doubts over his Camp Nou future.

On the other hand, Ousamane Dembele went completely absent during the crucial stages of the season due to his constant injury issues. Lionel Messi was the only decisive figure, while his strike partner Luis Suarez wasn’t his usual self either.

Should Barca consider Oyarzabal?

The Spaniard is a typical left-winger, whilst he can also play on the other side of the flank. As far as this season is concerned, Oyarzabal played at various positions up in front even with a much deeper role. His attributes include – great positional sense, strong dribbling skills and the eye for precise passes and finishes.

Conclusion

Barca are looking to make good use of this current transfer window by bringing in some quality wide players to Nou Camp. Oyarzabal is a great option and his experience in La Liga would be an added advantage.

On the other hand, the Spaniard’s move to a top club like Barcelona would certainly help him evolve as a world-class player in quick time.
