Benitez to make 6 changes – Strongest 4-4-1-1 Newcastle United lineup to face Burnley

Predicted Newcastle United Lineup To Face Burnley In The Premier League

Newcastle United will face off against Sean Dyche’s Burnley at the St. James’ Park on Wednesday night, in the Premier League.

Coming into the game on the back of a 3-0 drubbing at the hands of Chelsea in the 4th round of the FA Cup, Magpies boss Rafael Benitez will be intent on bouncing back with a strong display at home and getting all three points. The Tynesiders are placed precariously close to the relegation zone, sitting at 15th place in the league table, just one point above 18th placed Southampton.

Team News

Defenders Florian Lejeune and Jesus Gamez are the only absentees for Rafa Benitez, going into the game against the Clarets.

Probable Newcastle United XI

Manager: Rafael Benitez

Formation: 4-4-1-1

Karl Darlow (GK)

The Englishman has been preferred in goal by the manager in recent weeks and that is unlikely to change on Wednesday.

DeAndre Yedlin (RB)

The USMNT international is likely to come into the starting XI at right-back in place of former Atletico Madrid man Javi Manquillo.

Jamaal Lascelles (CB)

The club captain is an influential presence for his team and will look to bounce back after having conceded three in the weekend fixture.

Jamaal Lascelles

Ciaran Clark (CB)

Alongside Lascelles, it should be Republic of Ireland international Ciaran Clark in the heart of the defence. Would have to face the physical threat of Ashley Barnes.

Paul Dummett (LB)

The Welsh full-back did not feature in the cup tie against Chelsea but will assume duties at left-back against Burnley in the midweek.

Jacob Murphy (RM)

The former Norwich City man was another player who did not start at the Stamford Bridge on Sunday but is likely to make his way back into the playing XI.

Jonjo Shelvey (CM)

The England midfielder is a key cog in the scheme of things for Newcastle and will need to be at his best if they are to come out on top against the Clarets.

Isaac Hayden (CM)

Alongside Shelvey, former Arsenal man Isaac Hayden is likely to keep his spot in the middle of the park, to try and provide cover to his backline.

Jonjo Shelvey

Christian Atsu (LM)

On the left-hand side of the midfield, former Chelsea man Christian Atsu could be in line for a start after making a substitute appearance in the cup tie.

Ayoze Perez (SS)

The Spaniard wasn’t involved in the FA Cup game against Chelsea but should return to the starting setup against Burnley, operating just behind the main striker.

Joselu (ST)

Leading the line for the Magpies should be summer signing Joselu. The 27-year old has scored just 4 goals in 21 Premier League games and needs to step up in the second half of the season.
