Boly, Neves To Start – Strongest Wolves Lineup To Face Derby County At Pride Park Stadium

Predicted Wolves Lineup To Face Derby County In EFL Championship

Wolves are looking serious and won their head-butt with fellow big spenders Middlesbrough on the opening day of the season in a narrow 1-0 victory.

They have another major test at the weekend though when they head to the East Midlands to face Derby County, who are promotion favourites too. They laboured to a 1-1 draw at Sunderland on their opening day.

Several new signings made competitive debuts against Boro in a 3-4-2-1 formation which could be seen to good effect again, this time with the following personnel used:

Formation: 3-4-2-1

Manager: Nuno Espírito Santo

GK – John Ruddy

The former Norwich City man could prove to be a really astute signing for the season and will need to be on tip-top form in this game.

CB – Matt Doherty

Certainly versatile – Doherty is a right-back by trade but filled in at left-back for large chunks of last season.

CB – Roderick Miranda

Another newbie and one of Wolves’ Portuguese connection. He is strong, composed and good on the ball – all of which are vital qualities in the context of this fixture.

CB – Willy Boly

New man Boly is another quality signing and will have more and more influence as he settles in to the side.

RM – Conor Coady

Last season saw the former midfield player become an attacking right-back and he made the transition nicely. A role like this one, therefore, could be perfect for him.

CM – Romain Saiss

The defensive midfielder is not of the same quality as new man Neves but remains solid and should start once again.

CM – Ruben Neves

The new arrival could be crucial to Wolves’ promotion chances and I’m sure he’s made the club aware that his long-term future should be at Premier League level, if he is to stay in England.

LM – Barry Douglas

Traditionally a left-back, Douglas forms a part of a very solid looking formation but in fairness, he does well getting forward and has some quality on the ball, helping him to make a final pass.

Ruben Neves

CAM – Dave Edwards

Came off the bench against Boro but with his goal record from midfield, he should probably be afforded a start here.

CAM – Diogo Jota

The very talented Portuguese can have another crack after being substituted last time out at Molineux.

ST – Leo Bonatini

One thing Wolves truly lacked last season was a proper centre-forward and though little was known about Bonatini before his arrival here, he certainly got off to the right start by scoring the winner against Garry Monk’s men.
