Brazil vs Germany Preview
Can Brazil go through to the finals with two key players out of contention or will the Germans embrace their domination and stride forward to the World Cup glory that awaits them? It’s only a matter of time before the whistle blows and with the exciting thrillers we’ve seen thus far, everyone’s gearing up for what might be an amazing end for one of these two nations.
GOING THROUGH SAMBA STYLE – BRAZIL
Playing in their own backyard, Seleção fans will be chanting in full force as Brazil take to the pitch at the Estádio Mineirão in Belo Horizonte. With the likes of Neymar and Thiago Silva out of the squad’s choice for the lineups, coach Scolari will be poised with a tough decision as to whom he should replace and move around to topple the Germans.
The quarter finals against Colombia saw Zuniga knee down Barcelona star Neymar in the dying moments of the game to rule him out, following the rest of the World Cup. Being the talisman and main forward of the team, Brazil will look to bring in Willian for sheer pace and control on the ball. Possibly Ramires might start, but seeing as Oscar is having a fine time in this competition, he might move to a more central role allowing Willian to push forward along with Hulk from the flanks. Another possible choice is Bernard, who is fan favorite in Belo Horizonte. He can be key in exploiting the gaps in the German defense and whisk through to take Brazil through.
David Luiz, who scored the winning free kick against the Colombians, will be captaining his side, seeing as fellow Paris Saint German defender Silva was suspended following a careless foul in their previous match. Dante might look to start in his place and will have to be very physical game at the back as well as in the box, regarding the corners. His jumping and composure is like none other and might be the game changer they need.
WE ARE DEUTSCHLAND
Germany have been a very dominant side, considering their squad depth. Going into this match, the entire nation will be putting aside their 2010 World Cup woes as they were beaten 0-1 by defending Champions, Spain, in the same stages of the tournament.
With Klose looking to break records and Muller on a run for a consecutive Golden Boot award, a lot is at stake. Mounting the whole team, Joachim Low is fortunate to see a fresh group of players who look for the glory they missed out on 4 years ago.
After their stint in 1990, Germany have failed to fight their way through to another World Cup. Is this their moment?
Goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has been absolutely brilliant for Germany. An incredible save against their old rivals, France, in the final minutes of the game saw them through to another semi final. He’s quick on his feet and has a great vision to move up the field when need be. Returning to the field and scoring a stunner, Matt Hummels will be the key to their on going strategy.
Boasting a squad of talented players in the form of Mesut Ozil, Gotze and experienced tactical players like Lahm on your side, Germany can actually bring in all their energy and take advantage of the troubled defense Brazil is showcasing.
