According to talkSPORT, German club Wolfsburg are very much interested in bringing Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker back to Bundesliga in the Summer transfer window.
Even though Mertesacker has enjoyed a good run in red and white colors this season, but he has been a subject to fans’ criticism regularly for some crucial mistakes he had made this term.
Wolfsburg believe that Mertesacker is still one of the best defenders for Germany and they are the first team to attempt to bring the German Giant back home. Mertesacker is a good defender but he is too slow to compete with the pacey Premier league teams. Bundesliga will be the perfect fit for his style of play.
Poor form of Thomas Vermaelen or Kos is what allowing Per to start now a days. If Wenger buys another defender in Summer, then Mertesacker will most probably leave.
Arsenal are reportedly keen on signing Swansea City captain Ashley Williams as a direct replacement for Mertesacker.
