According to the reports fromDaily Express, German defender Per Mertesacker have opened talks with Arsenal for extending his current contract.
The German international is earning about £65,000-a-week at present. Considering his great form at the moment, it’s obvious that he wants to sign a bigger deal with the gunners. Mertesacker’s partnership with Laurent Koscielny is working out so well that even the club captain Thomas Vermaelen had to wait in queue for getting any game time.
Against Manchester United, it was evident that Arsenal missed Mertesacker at the back as RVP’s header sank Arsenal’s defense so easily. Mertesacker missed the game due to sickness. He is also expected to miss the international break with German national team.
