Brighton signing this 26-year-old star would finally ease the burden Glenn Murray’s shoulders

Brighton opinion: The Seagulls should reignite a move for Mbwana Samatta

Brighton’s decline over the final few months of the season was downright spectacular.

The club maintained their position as a mid-table side for most of the season before imploding rather incredibly, which eventually saw them come close to the drop. It wasn’t fun to watch, as the club failed to do much with nine games left.

After the draw against Watford on Matchday 25, things went from bad to worse, with Brighton winning just two games out of 13, gaining a total of 9 points.

That includes an eight-game winless run at the end of the season and if it wasn’t for Cardiff’s struggles, things could have gotten even worse. Because that aforementioned run saw them score just three goals and that is why things need to change.

Their absurd dependence on the ageing Glenn Murray has hurt the club. And while the 35-year-old has delivered, netting 13 goals in the Premier League, they need more.

Centre-back Shane Duffy came second with 5 goals, while both Jurgen Locadia and Florian Andone, managed just five between them. It’s one of the many reasons why the club struggled, with them netting just 35 goals in the Premier League this season.

That’s the third lowest amount in the Premier League, with both relegated Fulham and Cardiff City scoring just one goal less. That clearly points to why Brighton need a new striker and it’s why they need to reignite a move for Mbwana Samatta.

The Seagulls were linked with a move for the Tanzania star Mbwana Samatta recently and the 26-year-old is just the man for them.  He has been at his very best this season, scoring 32 goals and scoring 66 goals in 163 games for Genk, with a large chunk of that coming this season.

It’s a rather exquisite sight, watching him score goals freely. It’s what Brighton need, as his speed, power and ability on the ball will make him a great asset in the Premier League and for the club.

Conclusion

Things at Brighton have slowly started changing and with the addition of Graham Potter, the former Swansea City boss will be able to help them move forward. But to do that, they also need to replace Glenn Murray and more than anything, that’s what Mbwana Samatta will help with.
