Brilliant Son Heung-min – The Best And The Worst Rated Tottenham Players From The 2-0 Win vs Brighton

Full Time: Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 Brighton and Hove Albion

Goals from Serge Aurier and Heung-min Son in each half ensured Tottenham Hotspur’s victory over new boys Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League on Wednesday evening at Wembley stadium.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men took advantage of Liverpool and Arsenal dropping points, to move into fourth place with the win. Aurier’s miscued cross and Son’s late effort proved enough to lift Spurs back above surprise package Burnley.

Though the Londoners were far from the five-star best they showed against Stoke City at the weekend, they stuck to their task and bagged all the points at Wembley.

Also, Erik Lamela’s return to the Spurs XI for the first time in over a year following serious hip injury came as a much-needed boost for the team.

Visitors Brighton didn’t trouble much and Tomer Hemed had his team’s clearest chance in the second half. But his effort failed to test Hugo Lloris.

Let’s take a look at how the Tottenham players fared in their 2-0 win over Brighton.

Spurs player ratings

Hugo Lloris- 6/10

Barring the second-half save on his line from Hemed, Lloris spent most of the contest as a spectator.

Serge Aurier- 7/10

He showed some neat touches and his effort that became the opener in the first-half enjoyed a slice of luck. The Ivorian’s positioning after the break was poor and he was caught out a few times.

Eric Dier- 8/10

Really very solid at the back. Won almost everything aerially and kept Brighton’s attackers at bay.

Jan Vertonghen- 7/10

He was on the danger of suspension following his accumulation of 4 yellow cards. However, he passed the test with flying colours.

Danny Rose- 6.5/10

As always diligent, Rose ventured forward with intent and saw a late shot get deflected over the Brighton goal.

Harry Winks- 6/10

Not the typical Winks kind of performance. He himself would be disappointed after failing to be his usual self. Was later replaced by Mousa Dembele.

Moussa Sissoko- 6/10

Did his job decently in the middle of the park.

Erik Lamela- 7/10

What a boost for us to see the Argentine fully fit and finally start a game. He hit the post after the break and should be delighted to have got 75 minutes of action.

Christian Eriksen-7/10

The Dane looked sharp with his movement and played some crisp through-balls to his teammates. He grabbed a late assist with a low free-kick that Son hooked, to head home.

Heung-Min Son- 8/10

The South Korean impressed again and scored the 2nd Spurs goal to bag all three points. He was replaced in the final moments by Ben Davies.

Harry Kane- 6/10

Saw a few efforts saved by Mathew Ryan. The striker’s low free-kick was superbly pushed onto the upright. Has lacked the clinical edge in the last few weeks.

Substitutes

Mousa Dembele- 5/10

Replaced Winks in the second-half. Added a bit of energy and steel to the midfield.

Dele Alli- 5/10

Came in for the last 15 minutes. Didn’t exactly get the time to influence the game.

Ben Davies- N/A

Replaced Son in the final minutes to run down the clock.
