Bristol City signing this 6ft 7in Southampton giant would be a game-changer amidst their injury woes

Why Bristol City should definitely bring in Fraser Forster

Bristol City are on the back of three losses in the league as they dropped down the table. After having made a superb start to their campaign under Lee Johnson, the Robins have now fallen off the pace and have suffered a couple of injuries as well.

The manager has resorted to using third-choice goalkeeper Max O’Leary due to the injuries to the other two shot-stoppers. Frank Fielding is yet to feature due to injury and constant illness. Niki Maenpaa has certainly done well but he too has sat out the last few matches due to an injury. (Bristol Post)

Bristol City are definitely going to need a new top quality goalkeeper if they are to maintain any hopes of making it to the playoffs. The club should take a look at out of favour Southampton keeper Fraser Forster.

Fraser Forster

The English keeper was ousted from his role by Alex McCarthy at the St. Mary’s and has not featured yet this season. The 30-year-old was once the go-to goalkeeper at the South Coast club. His shot stopping ability and reflexes made him a favourite amongst the Saints.

Forster stands 6ft 7inches tall and is a towering presence inside the box. He can calmly come out and collect corners or punch the deliveries out of the box. The goalkeeper’s height also gives him a bigger reach, which should see him save a lot more at Bristol City.

Youngster Max O’Leary has managed just 8 saves since coming into the side. Forster is a lot more dependable option to bring in. The 30-year-old is very much experienced and possesses the quality to win games on his own.

He has made match-winning saves on a countless number of occasions for the Saints before. He is also very good at saving penalties and free-kicks. Though Forster showed poor form towards the end of his regular role at the club, the goalkeeper is definitely capable of reigniting his spark at Bristol City.
