Carvalhal to make 6 changes – Strongest 3-4-3 Swansea City XI to face Sheffield Wednesday

Predicted Swansea City Lineup To Face Sheffield Wednesday In The FA Cup

Swansea City will look to achieve qualification to the quarterfinals of the FA Cup when they take on EFL Championship side Sheffield Wednesday, in their fifth-round replay on Tuesday night at the Liberty Stadium.

The original tie ended in a goalless draw at the Hillsborough Stadium last week, and manager Carlos Carvalhal will be hoping that his side gets the job done this time around against his former employers. The Swans will go into the game on the back of a 4-1 mauling at the hands of Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League this past weekend and will be keen on bouncing back with a strong display against the Owls.

Team News

Leon Britton is close to a return to the side, but it remains to be seen if Carvalhal decides to risk the veteran midfielder for Tuesday’s game. Angel Rangel and Renato Sanches still remain sidelined for the Welsh side, while Leroy Fer and Wilfried Bony are ruled out for the season. January signings Andy King and Andre Ayew are ineligible for the game, having already represented Leicester City and West Ham United respectively in the FA Cup this season.

Probable Swansea City XI

Manager: Carlos Carvalhal

Formation: 3-4-3

Kristoffer Nordfeldt (GK)

The designated keeper for the cup competitions, Kristoffer Nordfeldt will start in place of Lukasz Fabianski at the Liberty.

Mike van der Hoorn (CB)

The Dutchman gave away a penalty in the loss to Brighton at the weekend. Will be looking to bounce back with a strong display.

Kyle Bartley (CB)

The English defender did not feature in the weekend loss but should come back into the starting XI, in place of Federico Fernandez.

Alfie Mawson

Alfie Mawson (CB)

Having returned from injury, Mawson started on Saturday and Carvalhal might look to continue with him in the backline against Wednesday.

Connor Roberts (RWB)

The youngster has been given the chance to prove himself in the cup games and it should be no different on Tuesday night. Could start as the right wing-back.

Ki Sung-Yeung (CM)

The South Korean has grown in prominence at the club over the past month or so. With Britton and Fer unavailable, he should once again start on Tuesday.

Tom Carroll (CM)

Partnering Ki in the middle of the park should be former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Tom Carroll. Needs to provide the drive and creativity going forward.

Martin Olsson (LWB)

The left-sided wing-back slot should continue to be occupied by Swedish defender Martin Olsson. His forward forays will be key for the Swans.

Tammy Abraham

Luciano Narsingh (RW)

The Netherlands winger made an appearance from the bench against Brighton. Should get the nod on Tuesday, on the right-wing.

Tammy Abraham (ST)

The on-loan Chelsea striker had a major hand in the only goal Swansea scored this past weekend. Will find himself leading the line against Wednesday.

Wayne Routledge (LW)

The 33-year old Englishman has scored a goal in his three FA Cup appearances this season and will be hoping to make a difference on Tuesday.
