Liverpool F.C. is a professional club based in Liverpool, England. They compete in the Premier League and are one of the most decorated clubs in the history of England. Nicknames as “The Reds”, Liverpool were founded in 1892. They have plied their trade at Anfield, their home since the inception of the club.
The Reds established themselves as a major European force in the 1970s and 1980s when Bill Shankly and Bob Paisley led the club to 11 league titles and 7 European Trophies. Liverpool are yet to win the Premier League but have lifted the previous first division titles on 18 occasions, a number which has only been beaten by Manchester United (Taking into Premier League titles into account as well).
Liverpool have also won the FA Cup 7 times and lifted the Community Shield on 15 occasions. But they are most famous for their 2005 Champions League win in Istanbul, adding a 5th to their name in stunning style. The Reds have also lifted the Europa League on 3 occasions as well.
Their all-time leading goal scorer is Ian Rush, who racked up a monstrous 346 goals in his reign. Ian Callaghan holds the record for the most number of appearances, which stands at 857.
