Stoke City F.C. is a professional football club based in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire. The club was originally founded as Stoke Ramblers in 1863 but soon changed its name to Stoke in 1878. In 1925, they changed it again to Stoke City after Stoke-on-Trent acquire the status of a city.
They are the second oldest professional football club in the world and were a founding member of the Football league in 1888. Stoke City currently ply their trade in the Championship after being relegated from the Premier League last season.
They are nicknamed “The Potters” and have won the Championship twice since its start. Stoke have also won the League Cup once. The Potters’ home is called bet365 Stadium and is also owned by bet365.
Their current manager is Gary Rowett who was appointed this year. Stoke City’s all-time leading goal scorer is Peter Crouch with 45 goals. Eric Skeels holds the record for the most number of appearances, standing at 597.
