Watford is a professional football club based in Watford, Hertfordshire, England. The club were originally founded in 1881 as Watford Rovers and entered the FA Cup for the first time in 1886. Watford joined the Football League in 1920. They spent most of their time in lower league divisions in their history.
The club played at several grounds before moving to the Vicarage Road in 1922. Their nicknames are “The Hornets” and “The Golden Boys”. Watford is currently owned by Gino Pozzo and the Pozzo family.
Watford have won the Football League Second Division, Third Division and Fourth Division before making their way into the Premier League. They have also come Runners-up at the 1983-84 FA Cup.
The Hornets’ current manager is Javi Gracia. Their all-time leading goalscorer is Luther Blissett with 186 goals. He also holds the record for the most number of appearances at 503.
