Celtic FC News: Callum McGregor wins Celtic POTY award

Celtic FC News: Callum McGregor has won the Celtic Player of the season award.

The Scots midfielder is having a wonderful season at Park Head so far, playing more than 40 matches.

The 25-year-old has scored 6 goals and provided 9 assists across all competitions. In fact, he is the second highest assist provider in the Premiership this season behind James Tavernier (14).

In addition, McGregor also grabbed the Players’ Player of the year award.

McGregor also had a decent international break last month, sparing the defeat against Kazakhstan.

Kristoffer Ajer won Celtic’s young player of the season award, while Scott Brown’s super strike against St Johnstone was selected as the best goal.

Ajer, 22, has been at the heart of the defence for the Hoops this season under Brendan Rodgers, as well as the interim manager Neil Lennon.

The Norwegian centre-back received plaudits from the fans, following his stellar display against Valencia in the Europa League knockouts, despite ending up on the losing side.

Ajer has been a regular for the side playing more than 30 matches.

The Hoops picked up a 1-0 win against Kilmarnock on Saturday with the goal from Jozo Simunovic.

Lennon has picked up his seventh win since taking charge at the end of February.

The Celts are inches away from clinching their eighth straight league title and the hopes of winning a domestic treble also remain high.
