The Scotsman joined the Park Head side on a season-long loan from West Bromwich Albion in January.

However, the 21-year-old said that he had an opportunity to move to Glasgow before joining Albion.

He said, (via the Scottish Sun).

It had been an option for me,” “I remember when I was at RB Leipzig in Germany and I wasn’t getting much game time and I remember Celtic were interested in a loan.

After making an impression at Nottingham Forrest, Burke was easily tempted by the sumptuous offer from RB Leipzig.

But everything didn’t go to plan as he often found himself on the sidelines in the Bundesliga.

His spell with the Baggies was also underwhelming, however, he soon found his feet in the Scottish Premiership and had an immediate impact.

Furthermore, it led to his first international call-up in two years, which he was anxiously waiting for.

Burke added (via the Scottish Sun).

“For me right now, I’m just focusing on playing here at Celtic, getting the games and enjoying myself as much as I can.

“Whatever happens next, is sort of out of my hands. I am a West Brom player and they own me, but hopefully, I can speak with my agent and get something sorted or something like this.

Burke hasn’t lived up to expectations for his country so far, as he drew criticism for his poor display in the Euro Qualifiers against Kazakhstan.

Even, the erstwhile manager Brendan Rodgers lauded the youngster’s talent.

Neil Lennon has taken charge on a temporary basis since Rodgers’ departure.

And Lennon has led the Hoops successfully to secure 13 points, with the latest victory came against Rangers in the Old Firm derby.

And the derby win allowed the Hoops to extend a 13 point lead over the Light Blues at the top of the Premiership table.
