Why Chelsea Should Finally Giveup On This Serie A Midfielder And Pursue Other Targets

For the past few weeks, former champions of England, Chelsea have been trying their best to push through as many deals as possible. The Blues are trying to recover from their horrific showing, in the previous campaign and now signing more stars seems to be one way of doing that. Antonio Conte is set to take over at Stamford Bridge post Italy’s run in the Euro 2016 tournament.

The ex Juventus boss will have some plans for the west London outfit and how he wants to change things around at the club, which he will try to implement once he comes to England.

Further, the Italian manager had a set of targets that he wanted to sign this summer and the club has been trying to get those deals completed. One such target that Conte and the club had was Belgian international Radja Nainggolan.

The AS Roman man has been linked with a move to England for quite some time now and the Premier League giants were trying their best to sign him, with three bids already made.

The latest offer made for their target was confirmed to be of £33m, yet the Serie A giants did not budge once again and Chelsea failed at signing the midfield superstar. The report added that the English outfit was now looking at other potential targets to bring in this summer, after being angered by Italian outfit’s stubbornness.

It is high time for the Londoners to move on from the former Cagliari man, as Nainggolan is already 28 years old and could take quite some time to fit into Conte’s style of play and adjust to the pace of the top flight of English football.

Also, the player has been one of the main stars in Belgium’s Euro campaign and could suffer from fatigue when he returns. Hopefully, he can remain fit and does not suffer any injuries as well, with so much football and barely any rest.

So many risks to take and now Chelsea will have to spend nearly £40m, if not more, in order to tempt the Romans into letting their priced possession leave the Stadio Olimpico. The amount can be rather used to sign some young talented star, who is not as confused as Nainggolan and is looking for a new challenge.

If the club remains in pursuit of their target, they might just be stalled and will eventually fail to sign the player. Conte will neither have the time nor the patience to keep waiting for a deal to be completed, as he will want to decide his starting eleven and get started with the implementation of his plans.

It will be interesting to see which player the manager will now target, as he looks to get back to winning titles in the upcoming campaign.
