Frank Lampard has had a tough pre season, missing out on most of the actions with an Achilles problem. His involvement has mainly been limited to two halves of the long pre season tour. But now the England international insists that he has recovered from his injury and will soon be ready to join the action.
“There is no pain with the injury any more . I am feeling good ,” Lampard stated. “Sometimes in pre-season your shooting and timing can be a bit off so I was pleased with the way it went in. I have worked on it in training for the past couple of weeks so it was nice for it to come off.”
“I like to think I am a pretty fit bloke and will be ready for Hull. I have trained the first week of pre- season and now the last week too and I have trained hard.” he added.
Lampard had been a major force for the Chelsea team under Mourinho, during his first term. It is believed that Chelsea offered Lampard a contract extension at the insistence of Mourinho. Although, one cannot expect Lampard to play week in week out, he will certainly have an important role to play for the club. Lampard is also in the England squad set to play against Scotland on Wednesday.
“I am looking forward to joining up with England and I would love to take part at some point. I think it will be a good exercise both individually for fitness and collectively considering we have some important qualifiers coming up.”, he mentioned about the match.
In another shock news, Jose Mourinho will be looking to sign Samuel Eto if Chelsea fail to land Wayne Rooney.
The 32-year old striker has been plying his trade for Anzhi Makhachkala for a staggering salary of £17m per year after tax. But financial constraints have forced the Russian club to sell the star and Mourinho looks to grasp this opportunity.
Eto has already played under Mourinho at Inter Milan and this would be a reunion of the striker and the manager if Chelsea get him. But Eto must be prepared for a salary cut if he is to play for the London outfit.
The Express quotes that, Jose Mourinho has in the past 48 hours made enquiries about Anzhi Makhachkala striker Eto’o as a possible bargain £5m back-up.
