Chelsea Set To Lose Top Striker Target And John Obi Mikel?

It was neck to neck from Edinson Cavani and Giorgio Chiellini

After the initial link-up with so many eminent clubs of Europe, Cavani is all set to don the PSG jersey this season once he passes his medical fitness test later today, ending speculations to one of the most talked about summer transfer saga.

Cavani scored 38 goals last season for Serie A side Napoli and thus was elevated to one of the main targets of clubs like Manchester City, Real Madrid and Chelsea. But Ligue-1 side Paris Saint Germain have finally capacitated to get him with a whopping €63 million, which will net Cavani €10m a season.

Gazzettadello Sport reports that the striker will travel to Paris on Monday to undergo a medical and could be presented as the Parisians newest signing soon after.

In Confederations Cup last month, Cavani managed to net the ball thrice in the tournament playing all the 4 matches with two of them against Italy in the third place deciding match. One of the goals against Italy was from an aberrant free-kick, which fooled the legendary goalie Buffon as he helplessly stood and saw the ball getting into the net.

So far, this 26-year old Uruguayan has 153 goals in club level, representing 285 times for Danubio, Palermo and Napoli. Now, playing beside Ibrahimovic will be really challenging for him and a move that may just promote the club to one of the biggest superpower in entire Europe.

In other news, big-spending Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala have joined the race for Chelsea ace Mikel John Obi. Mourinho left Mikel on the London club’s tour to South-East Asia and that has helped the speculation spreading like a fire.

Anzhi, who are a long term admirers of the Chelsea man, would like to seal the deal this summer and according to MTNFootball.com, a top source who is part of the negotiations to lure Mikel to Russia revealed that:

“Anzhi have come back for Mikel. They have made the player an offer and he in turn has asked for an improvement. That is the latest on the Mikel situation. Galatasaray have been in pole position to land Mikel after they agreed personal terms with him, but they have 13 foreigners on their books and would need to get rid of four of these players to accommodate the Nigeria star.”
