Chelsea signing this Serie A midfield enforcer is an absolute no-brainer and Sarri must get him

Why Chelsea must go all out for Franck Kessie in the summer

According to reports from the Express, AC Milan’s Ivorian midfielder Franck Kessie has been on Chelsea’s radar for a while now and they could finally use this upcoming transfer window to get their long-term target.

It also suggested by the report that Chelsea could use loanee Tiemoue Bakayoko as a bargaining chip as they try to lure the prized midfielder to London. Bakayoko arrived at Chelsea with great promise but completely failed to live up to expectations.

Since moving to AC Milan on loan though, Bakayoko has shown himself in a positive light again after a horrible first few weeks. He has been trained very well by Genaro Gattuso.

As the season has gone by, the Frenchman has certainly come to the fore a lot more for the San Siro based side. He has been involved in 18 Serie A games and in all six of their Europa League group stage matches

Chelsea have been facing a very inconsistent season and while they did start the campaign extremely well, over the last few months, the goals seem to have dried up and there is a clear lack of quality in the midfield.

Jorginho hasn’t been able to impact games quite the way he would’ve wanted to and this has left talented players like Pedro, Eden Hazard and Willian unable to perform up to their usual standards.

The addition of a dynamic midfield player capable of attacking and defending is what Chelsea need. A player who can come in and do the same things that Jorginho does, but in a different fashion, is the need of the hour at Stamford Bridge.

Given their current predicament, even if they’re unable to organise a swap deal for Kessie as reported by the Express, Chelsea must make a move for the talented 22-year-old. His movement and strength will be perfect to unlock the players in front of him.

He offers a lot more defensive cover than the Italian and somehow even seems to produce more going forward as well. While Jorginho is a regista who controls the game in the midfield, Kessie is a powerful runner who can break the lines of most opposition.

His bombarding forward runs have been one of Milan’s best assets this campaign and he has the perfect skill-set to light the Premier League on fire.

Given his strength and intelligence, he can also be used at centre-half, which is the kind of versatility that Chelsea currently lack. This move is a no-brainer and Maurizio Sarri must go for it.
