Chelsea simply cannot afford to let this £21m attacker leave in the summer – Here is why they must hold onto him

Chelsea Opinion – The Blues should rebuff offers coming for Pedro

According to a report in Metro (h/t Daily Express), Chelsea winger Pedro is a subject of interest from Italian sides Inter Milan and AC Milan. The 31-year-old has only one year left in his contract and other clubs are also keeping a close tab on his contractual development at Stamford Bridge.

Pedro has played over 100 league games for the Blues since he joined from Barcelona for £21m in 2015. (h/t BBC) He has been a crucial part of their title-winning season two years ago.

As per the report, the Spaniard wants to stay at Chelsea and extend his stay. Here’s why the club should oblige, rebuff offers from the Serie A club and offer him a new contract as soon as possible:

Chelsea cannot afford to lose key players

In the Chelsea front line, it is pretty clear that Eden Hazard and Pedro are two key players, along with Willian.

With the future of Hazard in grave doubt, as Real Madrid are closing in on the Belgian’s signature, (h/t AS) especially after the arrival of Zinedine Zidane, it is imperative that the Blues keep hold of Pedro beyond this summer.

The 31-year-old is able to impact the game offensively and without the ball as well. On the face of it, this has been a mediocre season for him and still managed to score eight goals and provide one assist in 26 league appearances (seven appearances from the bench).

Furthermore, Chelsea’s transfer ban will be in place come the next transfer window. (h/t Express) Hence, if they let go of Pedro, then it will be impossible to sign a replacement.
