Chelsea Target Reveals He WasNot Ready to Join The Blues

Joaquin’s return to Real Betis from Fiorentina was quite pleasing to many of the football fans across the globe and the welcome that the 34-year-old superstar got was huge, as the local boy was welcomed back home. Every footballer dreams of doing someday in the future and the former Spanish international who was born in El Puerto de Santa María, joined the Real Betis youth team when his talent was first noticed.

Joaquin further grew through the ranks and was a pleasure to watch for the fans who loved his exciting football. Joaquin represented both the country and club and was wanted by a number of big clubs across Europe, though a move to the Premier League never materialized for him despite having loads of talent.

He was wanted by the present champions of England Chelsea down, as he explained last week to El Decano Deportivo that he just was not ready to make the move to Stamford Bridge, regardless of how desperate Jose Mourinho was to sign him.

When asked about the whole situation, the Spaniard said, “No, not at all – and it was more than once! I missed an important financial sporting opportunity, to win titles and to be a much more important player… but I don’t regret it. My happiness at that time wasn’t there, that’s why I stayed here.”

Offers were still made and it took a call from the player’s father to Mourinho to tell him to back-off and the saga finally ended. At that point of time, Joaquin was 20, though things don’t really add up, as Mourinho was still managing Portuguese outfit FC Porto and he did not take over the Blues till 2004 . Well, whatever might be the case, eventually the pair did not work together.
