Chelsea Transfer Roundup: Chelsea Have An Answer For Their £30m Bid, Blues To Do Striker Deal With West Ham?

Campionato di Calcio Serie A TIM 2015/2016 2 Giornata Milano - 29.08.2015 Milan-Empoli

In a recent interview, Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has admitted that the team needs to sign a defender as they do not really have many options for the spot. The side recently won their League Cup tie, but it was very much clear that the side needs to strengthen their defence if they tend to challenge for the title.

“If you look now at our squad, we have only five defenders – four that started today and an academy player Ola Aina,” said Conte.

“Ola is very good – he has great potential – but with any young player you must work to put them in the first team. Sure, he has a good future.

“If one defender is injured or banned, then we are in trouble, but the club and me we know this and we are talking every day to improve the squad.”

Now, according to the reports from Sky Sports, the Blues are currently monitoring the situation of AC Milan’s 21-year-old centre back, Alessio Romagnoli. The Blues recent launched a £30m bid for the centre-back, but the Italian outfit rejected the offer immediately.

Romagnoli signed for the San Siro outfit last summer for £21m from Roma and made 34 appearances for the side in his debut season, and soon after his stellar performances, he has been compared to Milan’s greatest defenders,  Alessandro Nesta and Thiago Silva.

Furthermore, another report from Sky Sports has recently stated that Chelsea’s London rivals West Ham United are in talks with Loic Remy regarding a loan move for the striker. The 29-year-old former Newcastle United striker joined Chelsea back in 2014 and during his two years of tenure, he has only managed 47 appearances, and most of them came from the bench.

Hammer’s boss recently admitted that he is looking to add another striker to the squad and said that Wilfried Bony of Manchester City and Simone Zaza of Juventus, but Sky Sports has stated that a loan move for Remy is also on the cards. The Spanish side Valencia too are interested for the signature of the player, while the fellow Premier League side Crystal Palace have also previously enquired about the availability of the player.
