Chris Cohen To Start – Strongest 4-1-4-1 Nottingham Forest Lineup To Face Brentford

Predicted Nottingham Forest Lineup To Face Brentford In EFL Championship

If we also take into account their pre-season results and take them at face value, Nottingham Forest are in brilliant form and head to Griffin Park looking to show that they are the real deal in this league despite their near-miss at the bottom of the league last time around.

Henri Lansbury left last winter and Britt Assombalonga has headed off to Middlesbrough. However, Mark Warburton has brought in replacements and goes to his former club looking to do a number on them. This will not be an easy game by any stretch and Forest’s likely 4-1-4-1 have it all to do:

Formation: 4-1-4-1

Manager: Mark Warburton

GK – Jordan Smith

The 22-year-old ‘keeper is doing alright right now and is well on his way to proving himself in this division. A clean sheet here would be a major plus.

RB – Tendayi Darikwa

The former Burnley man didn’t really get a chance in Lancashire last season but was good in this division the year before and can keep his place here.

CB – Joe Worrall

This is a coming-of-age season for the 20-year-old and although I hope he does fine in the long term, I’d say he could be a slightly weak link against a savvy Brentford side.

CB – Michael Mancienne

The former Chelsea man looked destined for big things some years ago but couldn’t find a permanent home – neither positionally nor geographically. Now that he’s a confirmed centre-back, he may find his feet.

LB – Armand Traore

The left-back has plenty of experience now and should be an integral part of this squad.

DM – David Vaughan

The Welshman knows his way around this league and can provide some much needed nous to the midfield areas.

RM – Ben Brereton

The wide man was coveted by other clubs during this transfer window and may yet be the subject of bids. For now though, he can do a job for Warburton on the right-hand side.

CM – Zach Clough

Even just having the name Clough makes him fit in at Forest! The former Bolton man though does have quality at this level in his own right and sits nicely behind the front man.

CM – Chris Cohen

The midfield man replaced Ben Osborn last time and may be given the shirt from the start this time.

LM – Barrie McKay

Did little to impress Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha last season but was always a favourite of Warburton at Ibrox and it’s no surprise that he’s turned up here. Did manage to score last time in the league.

ST – Daryl Murphy

Getting on in years now but did precious little wrong for Newcastle last season in their promotion year and will lead the line very well.

Here’s how Forest could take the field:
