Predicted Sheffield United Lineup To Face Leicester City In The FA Cup
Sheffield United go into their game against Leicester City with the pressure off them in some ways. Their focus this season will very much be on attempting to make the playoffs, so the game against Leicester in the FA Cup will be seen as a bonus for Chris Wilder’s side. Since beating Preston in this competition, they have had a hard run of fixtures, losing to Wolves and Aston Villa before a morale-boosting Yorkshire derby win against Leeds.
Team News
Sheffield United have a host of injuries and players unavailable. They will be without David Brooks, Paul Coutts, and Kieron Freeman through injury. Goalkeeper Simon Moore is still suspended and Lee Evans, Ricky Holmes and Ryan Leonard are all ineligible to play.
Probable Sheffield United XI
Formation 3-5-2
GK – Jamal Blackman
Chelsea loanee Jamal Blackman should beat youngster Jake Eastwood to the jersey for this game.
CB – Jake Wright
The former Halifax and Oxford defender will be tasked with keeping the lively Leicester attack at bay. Not an easy task but the experienced defender will know his job.
CB – Richard Stearman
30-year-old defender Richard Stearman will be at the heart of the Sheffield United defence and played well in the victory over Leeds.
CB – Ben Heneghan
Ben Heneghan has one appearance for Sheffield United so far and it was in the previous round of the FA Cup against Preston. This game will be a very different test.
RWB – George Baldock
The former MK Dons player will be looking to make an impact on the wing against Premier League opposition. His delivery will have to be perfect.
CM – John Fleck
The Scottish midfielder has been in good form recently but will be up against a high-quality passing side. He will be hoping to add to his 3 assists this season.
CM – Mark Duffy
The 21-year-old has played a lot of games for United this season and he is a key part of the link-up play in the Sheffield United team.
CM – Chris Basham
With the amount of injuries and suspensions in the team, Chris Basham is likely to move forward from defence to play in midfield.
LWB – Daniel Lafferty
The Northern Irish international will bring experience and steel to the side but he will have to get forward in support to keep the balance of the team.
ST – Billy Sharp
After two goals against Leeds, the striker’s confidence will be sky high. Maybe feeding off scraps but will have to make the most of it.
ST – Clayton Donaldson
Likely to come in for Clarke, his job will be to hold the ball up and keep the Leicester defence on the back foot – a thankless task.
