On tour with the team in China, Jose Mourinho was asked about the imminent signing of Paul Pogba by Manchester United.
Comfortable with handling the media, the Portuguese manager handled the questions like a boss. When asked about the signing he stressed that he was very happy with Ed Woodward and the team as they have completed 75% of his target and with only 25% remaining he sounded pretty confident that the club will get their man. He also said that while there are a lot of speculations in the media about Pogba’s signing, there is also the possibility that some other midfielder could land up at Old Trafford.
When asked about Pogba, the Portuguese refused to talk directly about the player but rather spoke about the profile of a player that Manchester United wants. He stressed that while the club is looking for the fourth signing, the important factor is the profile of a player rather than the player himself.
“We established the profile of four players to improve the squad, to give us more options, especially adapted to my way of thinking about football.”
“The situation is that I refuse to speak about players from other clubs.”
“I don’t like that when other clubs do that in relation to my players. I don’t do that in relation to their players in this case a Juventus player.”
“Everybody speaks about one, but it wouldn’t be a surprise for me if it is not him and it is another one because we went for profile.”
