According to a report by Sky Sports News reporter Bryan Swanson, Premier League side Newcastle United are now on the verge of signing a £13m deal for Serbian striker Aleksander Mitrovic. The 20-year old youngster was being targetted by the English champions, but will now be undergoing a medical with their league rivals soon, as per reports.
The youngster will be leaving Belgian outfit Anderlecht, after scoring once in last year’s Champions League tournament and was being linked with Jose Mourinho’s side, based on what the Daily Star had reported though the Serb now looks set for a move to St. James’ Park.
Mitrovic will become Steve McClren’s second signing for the club, after the signing of Dutchman Georgino Wijnaldum recently.
The young attacker has made a total of 69 appearances, scoring a tally of 36 goals since joining the Belgian Pro League club in 2013.
“This is a club with a very big history and the fans are a big part of that. There will be pressure here, for sure, but I like pressure,” said Mitrovic
“I also know about the famous players who have played for Newcastle United, like Alan Shearer, who is a hero of mine. I hope I can play like him for this club. It will be an honour.
Mourinho was keen on adding more strikers to his squad, as he looks to compete for the treble in the upcoming season.
